In this discussion moderated by Michael Grant, members of the American Press Institute–Racial Equity in Journalism Fund Listening Lab cohort will talk about how they transformed their community news businesses by applying human-centered design. The publishers will share how they conducted field research, created new products and came to reevaluate their roles as publishers. 
Session audience and takeaways:
  • This session is for publishers, especially small newsrooms, who want to learn more about conducting listening work in communities and how to apply it towards creating news products that make a more sustainable business.
  • Attendees will learn the steps and tactics for conducting listening work and will come away with concrete examples of potential products.
