Rethinking wealth, funding and equity: Aligning your values and your revenue

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

As independent news organizations increasingly rely on philanthropy, fundraising and major donors as key revenue sources, it can be difficult to reconcile the need for financial support with the social, political, economic and racial implications of an inequitable wealth structure. This session will help organization leaders rethink their relationship with money and share ideas for how to align fundraising mechanisms with core values.
Session audience and takeaways:
  • The audience for this session is fundraisers and thought leaders at news organizations who are thinking about their approach to fundraising in the context of inequality.
  • After a discussion of the aspects of wealth that make us uncomfortable, attendees will come away with ideas for reconciling the discomfort and new perspectives of peers who are thinking about the same issues.
