Jim Friedlich is CEO and Executive Director of The Lenfest Institute for Journalism, an innovative non-profit organization that supports local journalism in Philadelphia and nationwide. The Institute is the owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, now the largest newspaper in America owned by a non-profit. The Institute advises local news organizations worldwide on philanthropy and sustainable business models. Friedlich was a long-time executive at Dow Jones and Company, serving previously as Group Publisher of The Wall Street Journal for Europe, Asia, and the Americas, in charge of global business operations. He was a Board Director of CNBC and a co-founder of the Journal’s digital edition, WSJ.com.
