Joanna Zuckerman Bernstein joined Spotlight PA at launch in 2019 as its first development director. For the past three years, she has built local and national support for Spotlight PA’s statehouse and statewide journalism and led myriad other initiatives, including expanding the newsroom’s partnerships and creating its civic events program. Before returning to her home state of Pennsylvania, Joanna was a foreign correspondent in Mexico City and did fundraising and communications work for nonprofits in Chicago and New York. She has a master’s degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, where she was a Stabile Investigative Fellow.
