Michelle leads the American Journalism Project’s portfolio-wide support and capacity building initiatives, and serves as a strategic partner to a growing number of grantees. She was previously general manager at WDET, Detroit’s NPR affiliate, and has earned national recognition for her commitment to bringing new audiences to public service media. Michelle’s career began in advertising where she contributed to several award-winning multimedia campaigns for Chevy, the U.S. Navy and the National Fatherhood Initiative. She is an alumni of the German Marshall Fund's Marshall Memorial Fellowship and the 2017 Punch Sulzberger Executive Leadership program at Columbia University (now the Media Transformation Challenge at Poynter).
